Community Garden 2011

It is Spring and the Teusink Community Garden is starting to come alive.  Suzie Steen led a led an informational meeting on March 22, at which time gardeners were able to sign up for their plots and the garden guidelines were updated.  The new guidelines are posted below; changes are highlighted.  The cost for a plot will again be $15, with a $10 deposit to be returned when the plot is cleaned in the fall.  If you want to sign up for a plot, please contact Suzie Steen at Park Church.

Below are some important points shared at the meeting:

  • Gardeners should begin weeding their plots by May 15.
  • All plots are to be roped off within two weeks of receiving that plot
  • all plants will be contained within the roped off areas.  If plants creep outside of the area, they may damaged when the walkways are rototilled.
  • The area to the south of the garden (where corn was planted last year) will be used for community vine crops  such as squash, cucumbers, watermelon, and pumpkins.  Gardeners who want to have crops in that area will need to sign up to help with the upkeep of the community vine plot.
